Commonly Asked Questions

Who usually selects the tuxedos for the wedding party?

Usually the bride and groom make the selection. The tuxedo style you choose will depend on your personal taste, the time of year, time of day and the formality of your wedding.

How do I find my best look?

If your personal style is traditional, you’ll be most comfortable in a classic tuxedo or tailcoat. These are always superb choices. Style conscious dressers may prefer the excitement of updated fabrics, designs and accessories. Coordinate your own look, choose from over 70 styles. Be sure to look at a variety of styles and ask your sales person for assistance.

When should we finalize our tuxedo selection?

It is never too early or too late to register your wedding. It is recommended, however, that the bride and groom make their final decision and register at least three months before; this will allow the attendants time to have measurements taken at least three weeks in advance.

What are the newest trends in tuxedos?

While black endures as the groom’s No. 1 choice, colors are gaining popularity. White and ivory are great choices for spring and summer weddings. Famous designers such as Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Oscar De La Renta and Christian Dior have taken formal fashions to a new height, with exciting styles and accessories. Add a fancy vest, button cover or euro-band tie to personalize your look.

How can I get out-of-town attendants measured?

Out of town attendants can be measured at any formal wear supplier in their area. This is a tuxedo industry courtesy and there is usually no charge for this service. The measurements are then mailed, emailed or phoned into the store providing the tuxedos.

Should we encourage other family members to go formal?

Yes. All too often fathers are left out. Consider the pictures and the memories; encourage the whole family to be involved. This is a very special time for grandfathers and uncles too. Invite them to dress for this special occasion. Whenever you review your wedding album or video, you’ll be glad you did.

Do I need to rent shoes?

Etiquette dictates that a shiny plain toe shoe be worn with men’s formal wear. Formal shoes complete the look of a tuxedo and add consistency to the wedding party.

How can we make the groom stand out from the ushers?

There are many ways to emphasize the groom. For example, he can wear tails while the other men wear tuxedo coats, or the groom may choose a different color or double breasted. The groom can wear accessories (cummerbund or vest and tie) to match the brides gown, while the attendants wear colored accessories that match the bridesmaids’ dresses.
